IB Diploma Programme

The IB Diploma is made up of two main elements: the DP nucleus DP and the six subject groups which offer a comprehensive and multidisciplinary preparation:

Each student takes six different courses, one for each group, comprising three subjects at higher level (HL) and three at standard level (SL).

This personalised selection, based on individual interests and aptitudes, is aimed at offering a stimulating challenge and encouraging the development of soft skills preparing students to excel in their academic and professional future

IB DP Core (mandatory elements for the Diploma)

In addition to the study of academic subjects, the DP Core enriches the learning experience:

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

Students reflect upon the nature of knowledge and how it is possible to be sure of acquired knowledge

Extended essay

An independent research project culminating in a written paper of approximately 4000 words

Creativity, Action and Service (CAS)

A program engaging students in hands-on activities including creativity, sport and community service.

Assessment and certification

  • Students must obtain at least 24 points out of 45 to earn the IB Diploma.
  • The final exams are evaluated by IBO (International Baccalaureate Organization).

Final Exam and Certification

IB Diploma Programme (DP)

  • Students take official IB exams, assessed by International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) with a score of 1 to 7 for each of the six subjects studied.
  • The maximum score achievable is 45, and to earn the diploma students must achieve at least 24 points and successfully complete the DP Core (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay e Creativity, Activity, Service – CAS).
  • The IB Diploma is recognised worldwide and, in Italy, is equivalent to the Italian High School Diploma (Maturità), allowing direct access to national and international universities.
