At the International School of Turin (IST), the curriculum is based on International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, offering a comprehensive international education. The Primary Years Programme (PYP) welcomes students aged 2.5 to 11 years, divided between Preschool and Primary School. This is followed by the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students aged 11 to 15 and the Diploma Programme (DP) for students aged 16 to 18.
In High School, IST has introduced the IST PATHWAYS approach offering students greater freedom to tailor their studies based on personal interests and goals.
IST puts great emphasis not only on academic growth, but also on developing useful skills for the future, preparing students to confidently face the challenges of university and the professional world.
Students who complete their studies at IST can obtain both the American High School Diploma and the IB Diploma, recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education and equivalent to the Italian Diploma (Maturità), guaranteeing access to top Italian and international universities.
At IST, we maintain small class sizes to ensure personalised attention and an engaging learning environment. This approach allows teachers to closely monitor each student’s progress offering targeted support and encouraging active participation. The student-teacher ratios vary according to program and grade level, but we’re always committed to maintaining high educational standards with appropriately-sized groups.
The International School of Turin offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities fostering personal development, creativity and students’ wellbeing. We publish a catalogue annually that may vary year by year. Activities take place in the afternoon, with enrollments open at the beginning of the semester and limited places.
The options include activities held both inside the campus and at specialised external facilities, with transport provided by the school for the off-campus ones. Activities included are:

Yes, IST requires students to wear a school uniform up to Grade 10, aiming at fostering a sense of belonging to the community and creating a more inclusive school environment, School attire varies based on grade level and daily activities. Specific uniforms are required for daily classes and sport activities. Families receive all the necessary information for purchasing and wearing the uniform upon enrollment.
Yes, IST provides a private school transportation service with buses covering many areas of the city and its surroundings. The service is organised to ensure safety, punctuality and convenience for families, and is operated by qualified staff supervising students throughout the journey.
The IST cafeteria offers well balanced and nutritious meals, approved by the relevant Local Health Authority (ASL), prepared with fresh, high quality and mostly local ingredients. Special menus are available for students with allergies, food intolerances or specific dietary needs. The School promotes a healthy and conscious nutrition raising awareness among students about the importance of a well-balanced diet.

At the International School of Turin (IST), students have the opportunity to study different languages and pursue globally recognised international linguistic certifications. The language of instruction is English. The Italian language is introduced from 5 years of age. The third curricular language (French, Dutch or Spanish) from Grade 4.
Language teaching follows the communicative approach and the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR). Preparation is provided for the following exams:
Preparation for these certifications is integrated into the school curriculum, allowing students to develop solid linguistic skills. Exams are optional, but IST covers the tuition costs once per school year for each student and for each level. Earning a linguistic certification represents an added value for the academic curriculum and facilitates admission to international universities.
IST is an examination centre for the Goethe, DELE and SAT: students and the community can thus take the Dutch and Spanish language exams, as well as the American university admission exam, directly at the school.
