The IST Student Council offers students the opportunity to make a concrete contribution to school life, fostering collaboration and leadership skills and the implementation of community initiatives.
The House System at IST Primary School strengthens the sense of community and fosters collaboration, kindness and respect for diversity. After a temporary stop, the system has been fully restored and currently represents a key aspect in school life, contributing to creating an inclusive and participatory environment.
The Houses – Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire and Diamond – are small, integrated communities where students and teachers collaborate beyond single school grades. Each student belongs to the same House throughout the entire Primary School path, strengthening the sense of belonging, fostering meaningful relationships, peer tutoring and the development of skills as teamwork, cooperation and leadership.
Every House is led by a Head of House and House Captain. These figures coordinate activities, represent student voice and promote active participation, replacing the previous structure of the Student Council in Primary School.
The Secondary School Student Council is an organisation representing students and gathering their proposals and requests; working as a link between students and IST administration. Through dialogue and collaboration, the Council contributes to giving voice to students and improving school life.
Led by the MYP Coordinator, the Council promotes a sense of responsibility and respect for common areas, encouraging students to take care of school facilities.
In addition, it organises activities and events engaging the student body and manages student funds, using these for initiatives fostering student welfare and participation as the Council sees fit.
